Cambridge ESOL offers internationally recognised qualifications for both new and experienced English language teachers. These qualifications are taken by over 12,000 people each year. They provide a route to the English Language teaching profession for new teachers, and first class career development opportunities for experienced teachers.
TKT tests knowledge about the teaching of English to speakers of other languages and concentrates on the knowledge needed by all English language teachers. Some highlights of TKT are:

- Each TKT module is independent, and there is a separate certification for each module.

- Provides progression to Cambridge ESOL’s higher Teaching Awards including CELTA and DELTA
TKT - Teaching Knowledge Test: this flexible and accessible award focuses on the core teaching knowledge needed by teachers, whatever be their background and teaching experience. The programme has 3 modules listed hereunder:
Module 1 - Language and background to language learning and teaching
Module 2 - Planning lessons and use of resources for language teaching
Module 3 - Managing the teaching and learning process
TKT KAL – Teaching Knowledge Test - Knowledge About Language: TKT: KAL tests a candidate’s knowledge of the language systems needed by teachers for planning and teaching their lessons. This is an additional and optional module of the TKT.
TKT CLIL– Teaching Knowledge Test – Content and Language Integrated Learning: TKT:CLIL tests a Candidate’s knowledge of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and the practice of planning, teaching and assessing curriculum subjects taught in English. CLIL describes an evolving approach to teaching and learning where subjects are taught and studied through the medium of a non-native language.
TKT Practical: TKT Practical is a new module which gives teachers certification for their practical teaching abilities, and can be taken at any stage in their career. This simple and affordable assessment is an ideal certificate for existing teacher who may not possess formal qualifications
